Industrial production compresses a fragrance from formula to shelf in weeks. A handcrafted composition macerates for months, letting molecules bind and rough edges soften.
What changes in small batches
- Maceration — six to eight weeks minimum before bottling.
- Naturals — harvest variation is embraced rather than corrected.
- Dosage — expensive materials are used at meaningful concentrations.
Two batches of the same natural absolute will never be identical. That is a feature.
The trade-offs, honestly
Handcrafted work is slower, costlier and less uniform. In exchange you get depth, a longer dry-down and a fragrance that behaves like a material rather than a product.
